Biography
Dr. Yang is an interdisciplinary faculty member affiliated with the Department of Automation and Open Faculty for Innovation, Education, Science, Technology and Art (Open FIESTA) at Tsinghua University. He received his Ph.D. degree in Pattern Recognition and Intelligent Systems from National Lab. of Pattern Recognition (NLPR), Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CASIA), in 2008. Prior to joining the Tsinghua faculty, he was a Postdoc working at Tsinghua University from 2008 to 2010. He has published over 100 journal and conference papers and has widely published in highly ranked international journals, such as IEEE TIP, PR, and leading international conferences, such as ACL, AAAI, SIGIR, CVPR, WWW and ICDM. He has served as a reviewer for many international journals and the Council Member of the Shenzhen industry-education-research alliance of sensor technology. He is the director of the Intelligent Computing Laboratory, Graduate School at Shenzhen, Tsinghua University. His research goal is to utilize artificial intelligence techniques to make machines perceive and interact with the surrounding environment.
