The research institutions at Tsinghua SIGS are classified into three categories based on their approval and establishment:
Category One: Institutions approved by government. This includes key government-funded research institutions that leverage school resources, as well as science and technology service organizations accredited by the state, provincial, ministries, and municipal governments.
Category Two: Institutions solely approved and established by Tsinghua SIGS.
Category Three: Jointly established institutions based on agreements between Tsinghua SIGS and external independent legal entities. This category includes collaborative research institutions formed with domestic and international enterprises, universities, and research organizations.
As of October 31, 2024, Tsinghua SIGS is home to 132 operational scientific research institutions.
