Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School (Tsinghua SIGS) participated in the China Marine Economy Expo (CMEE) in Shenzhen from October 31 to November 2, 2024, showcasing its latest research achievements in marine engineering and equipment, marine resources and environment, marine energy, and marine information.
In the spotlight was the in-situ plankton observation and analysis system developed by Professor Cai Zhonghua’s team from the Institute for Ocean Engineering. This advanced device, featuring internationally leading technical capabilities, provides high-definition imaging of plankton and is widely applicable for monitoring various water bodies, including oceans, lakes, and reservoirs. Professor Zheng Xiangyuan’s team displayed models of an offshore floating wind-solar-aquaculture system and a shallow-water floating solar-powered trash collection device, attracting significant interest from attendees. Representatives from the Indian Ocean Rim Association expressed interest in promoting this floating wind-solar-aquaculture system to Indian Ocean countries. Other showcased innovations included an in-situ classification detector for marine particles and a multi-energy hybrid floating platform integrating wind, wave, and solar power.
