The 2024 Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School (SIGS) Global Summer School (GSS) concluded on the afternoon of July 4.
SIGS Vice Dean Zuo Jian'e and faculty representatives from various institutes attended the closing ceremony held at the East Building Complex.
Zuo Jian’e delivers remarks
During the closing ceremony, Zuo thanked the students for actively participating in the summer school activities. “Let the knowledge gained and the connections and experiences shared inspire you to be agents of change, promote cross-cultural understanding, and foster collaborations that transcend borders,” said Zuo. He also expressed gratitude to the faculty members who shared their knowledge and expertise with the participants.
Frankie Ouyang shares his GSS experiences
As the faculty representative, Assistant Professor Frankie Ouyang shared his experiences interacting with the summer school participants. “Shenzhen is an open and inclusive city. We welcome you to come back to study at SIGS and become a Shenzhener,” said Ouyang.
Maxim Alexander Baumgärtel reflects on his GSS experience
In his remarks, Maxim Alexander Baumgärtel, GSS participant and student at the Technical University of Munich, reflected on his experience of the program. “Tsinghua SIGS has exceeded my expectations with its excellent academic atmosphere, great facilities, and meticulous program planning,” said Baumgärtel. He also shared his program highlights, including the opportunities for high-quality interdisciplinary learning and engagement with local industries.
Participants receive special awards during the closing ceremony
The Most Engaged Participant and Digital Ambassador awards were presented to recipients by faculty representatives during the closing ceremony.
GSS participants share reflections on the program
Afterwards, GSS participants shared their insights from the program. They expressed that they gained valuable knowledge, formed genuine friendships, and accumulated unforgettable experiences through this program. Several students expressed their hope for the opportunity to further their studies at SIGS.
This year, the Global Summer School, jointly hosted by the Office of Global Affairs and Admissions Office, welcomed 110 participants from 63 universities across 34 countries. During the ten-day program, students participated in lectures, workshops, company visits, and cultural experiences, guided by experts and scholars.
