SIGS rowing team secures 1st place in X9 Alliance spring league

The Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School (SIGS) rowing team joined over 400 rowers from local and international teams to compete on the Dasha River in the third stage of the third Shenzhen X9 Alliance of Universities and Institutes Rowing League Around X-Lake Sciensity on June 27.

The X9 Alliance teams competed against each other as well as the Cambridge University and Oxford University teams whose 28 members hailed from 10 countries, including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Italy.

The final event of the rowing league’s spring season, which SIGS co-organized, welcomed the largest number of participants and the most diverse participation in the league’s history.

SIGS’s men’s eight, mixed eight, and expert crews demonstrated remarkable strength and dedication, rowing their way to first place in the spring league. Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology and the Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen) rounded out the top three, respectively.

The spring season of the Third Shenzhen X9 Alliance of Universities and Institutes Rowing League Around X-Lake Sciensity is guided by the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government and spearheaded by the Education Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality. It is supported by the Culture, Media, Tourism, and Sports Bureau and the Science and Technology Innovation Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality. The event was hosted by the X9 Alliance and co-organized by SIGS, the Nanshan District Government, and the Guangming District Government.
