SIGS welcomes 2023 Global Summer School participants

The Tsinghua SIGS 2023 Global Summer School (GSS) began on June 27, welcoming students from thirteen countries and regions for an immersive and intellectually stimulating academic experience. The program is hosted by the SIGS Office of Global Affairs and Admissions Office. Participants include undergraduate and graduate students as well as professionals seeking to expand their knowledge and expertise.

During the summer school, under the guidance of esteemed faculty members from Tsinghua University, participants will delve into an array of subjects, including materials science, information technology, biopharmaceutical and health engineering, ocean engineering, and environment and ecology. Through a combination of lectures, workshops, and hands-on projects, students will have the opportunity to explore cutting-edge research, gain new insights, collaborate with leading experts, and develop practical skills that will be invaluable for their future careers. Additionally, the program aims to expand participants’ global competence through cultural exchange and cross-cultural collaboration as well as foster their innovation and entrepreneurship skills.

On the first day of GSS, SIGS Associate Dean Zhang Chuanjie delivered remarks, welcoming participants and introducing SIGS.

Participant icebreaker activity

During the following two weeks of the program, participating students will explore the frontiers of their respective academic fields, visit high-tech enterprises in Shenzhen, enjoy the Greater Bay Area’s natural scenery, and learn about Chinese history and culture together with SIGS faculty and students.
