SIGS ensures campus health and safety during lockdown

Published:2022.03.22

As campus has gone into lockdown and entrance and exit to and from University Town are restricted, Tsinghua SIGS has done its best to ensure the health and safety of those staying on campus.

COVID-19 Testing

Every day, students, faculty, and staff staying on campus participate in University Town-wide COVID-19 testing.

Accommodations

When students from off-campus apartments moved to campus before the lockdown, the Offices of Campus Management and Services and Student Affairs worked quickly to test 132 students and help them move their belongings into on-campus dormitories.

Forty-five faculty and staff and eighty-five logistics staff moved onto campus to guarantee the smooth running of campus facilities and classes. Staff worked quickly to find them accommodation in University Town and purchased daily essentials for them.

In addition, ten offices were given to off-campus faculty at Nanshan iPark to ensure quality online teaching with a stable internet connection.

Disinfecting the Campus

Buildings are disinfected twice a day, while all classrooms and meeting rooms are ventilated three times a day for over 30 minutes.

Before the beginning of the semester, filters in all air conditioning units were cleaned and disinfected.

Overseas packages, including research-related items, are disinfected as they arrive.

Campus Facilities

Both campus dining halls are open, along with the campus convenience store, the Jimmy Datang Restaurant, the print shop, Campus Cuts, and the Cai Niao Package Station.

The staff at these facilities work hard to keep their businesses running normally, including cleaning, stocking, and appropriate garbage disposal.

For students still in off-campus apartments, dining hall staff has worked with the Office of Campus Management and Services to ensure food delivery for students.

COVID-19 Prevention Essentials

The Office of Campus Management and Services has re-supplied COVID-19 prevention essentials in each building, including hand sanitizer, disinfectant gel, COVID-19 prevention signs, and thermometers.

Staff has also checked all electromechanical equipment on campus to make sure it will work smoothly.

24-hour Security

For the safety of everyone on campus, security guards patrol campus 24 hours a day. The Information Building and the Energy & Environment Building have security guards stationed at entrances around the clock. The Campus Surveillance Center is also working 24 hours a day to ensure the safety of all on campus.

Thank you to all the staff who have worked hard to ensure the health and safety of the students, faculty, and staff currently on campus!
