Tsinghua SIGS Faculty Named Most Highly Cited Researchers 2020

Published:2020.11.25

Five researchers from Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School (Tsinghua SIGS) were selected into Clarivate Analytics’ Highly Cited Researchers list announced on November 18.

The annual list recognizes the world’s most influential researchers, demonstrated by the publication of highly cited papers that rank in the top 1% by citations for field and year in Web of Science over the last decade.

This year, 6,167 researchers from over 60 countries and regions were included. 55 were from Tsinghua University, ranking ninth among global institutions and first among universities in mainland China. Tsinghua SIGS faculty on the list were Academician Cheng Hui-Ming, Professor Kang Feiyu, Professor Li Baohua, Associate Professor Lv Wei, and Associate Professor Zhou Guangmin from the newly inaugurated Institute of Materials Research (iMR).

Cheng Hui-Ming, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Director of the iMR, is a leading scientist in nanocarbon materials and new energy materials. His research focuses on the fabrication and applications of carbon nanotubes, graphene, other two-dimensional materials, energy storage materials, photocatalytic semiconducting materials, and bulk carbon materials. Cheng is also Executive Director of the Shenzhen Geim Graphene Research Center, which actively supports and promotes the research and development of graphene and emerging two-dimensional materials in Shenzhen and in the country.

Kang Feiyu, Associate Dean of Tsinghua SIGS and Executive Associate Director of the iMR, mainly engages in carbon materials research and its applications in energy and environment. He has solved the key technical problem in the application of natural graphite and graphene in lithium ion batteries, and promoted the development of China's natural graphite deep processing technology and high-safety rechargeable batteries.

Professor Li Baohua, Associate Director of iMR, focuses on research in new carbon materials, physical and chemical properties of nano-energy materials in the fields of lithium-ion batteries, lithium-sulfur batteries, lithium-air batteries, electrochemical capacitors, fuel cells, and their related device system integration and application technologies.

Associate Professor Lv Wei mainly engages in the research on the structure design, controllable assembly and electrochemical energy storage applications of nanocarbon materials and novel two-dimensional materials. In recent years, he mainly focuses on developing high-performance lithium-sulfur batteries and the related catalytic effect and key materials.

Tsinghua-Berkeley Shenzhen Institute Associate Professor Zhou Guangmin focuses on the design of high energy rechargeable batteries, design and assembly of all solid state lithium batteries, 3D printing techniques for electrode materials and devices, development of flexible energy-storage materials and devices, and in-situ characterization techniques for electrode reaction and failure mechanisms.
